Janet P. Ford
Janet Ford is part of our coverage and commercial litigation teams. Most of her practice includes management of complex cases involving general liability and first party property insurance coverage. She has argued a number of appeals in the highest courts, including the New York Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals. In particular, she has litigated a number of significant and high profile cases involving allegations of bad faith insurance practices, a topic that has become a closely watched area of the law, and on which Janet has presented several lectures.
Janet began her law career as a Pro Se Law Clerk for the United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit, and then as Counsel to the Governmental Affairs Committee, NYC Council, which awarded her a proclamation for exceptional service to the City of New York. While successfully representing clients in the commercial arena, Janet also maintains her footing in public interest through volunteering her legal skills in various settings. One of her proudest accomplishments in this area was obtaining asylum in the United States for a victim of persecution.
